Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer born in Washington, D.C., who was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. In October of 2016 Ari Lennox debuted her debut EP Pho. This was the moment that she received recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released in May 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading her music onto the internet back in 2012 after she released her debut mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography In 2013. The year 2014 saw her continue to share her music over the internet including her independently release single Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as on Sweat It Out on July 21, 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at that time and wanted her to work on Rihanna and Rihanna-related songs. The announcement of her decision to be signed by Dreamville Records was made on the 8th day of December. She made an appearance on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. In October 2016 the singer-songwriter released her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act on behalf of J. Cole on his track Change in 2017 and also appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. Also, she was featured in the music videos Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus together with Bas the label's co-founders. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video, which was released on the 5th of September. Then on November 9 she dropped two more singles: 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. On November 13 she dropped two more singles entitled One and Pdigree. One as well as Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby later made an appearance on the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She dropped this single as a way to promote her debut titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. A music video was released on February 20, 2019 in conjunction with the song. Within a period of a week, the video had more than 3,000,000 views. In December of 2018 she performed on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
